When you think of the city of Liverpool there are probably a few things that come to mind – the Mersey, football and The Beatles. The Beatles are one of the most globally respected, loved and celebrated groups of the rock era. Their influence can still be heard today as current and up and coming bands hail them as being their inspiration for getting into music in the first place.
Before the term Beatlemania was coined and swept across the world like a musical tidal wave, The Beatles worked hard and diligently playing in working men’s clubs in both Liverpool and Hamburg. On the Beatles Story Experience in Liverpool you can learn about their humble beginnings and their rise to fame and into the rock music history books.
The tour is situated across two sites at Albert Dock and Pier Head and includes a Beatles-themed museum that has exhibitions, memorabilia exclusive to the Beatles Story Experience and areas that interactively enable you to discover more about Liverpool and its most famous musical sons. Our favourite part of the whole experience was the Fab4D section. We also thought that it was a nice touch that the audio guide for the tour is narration by John Lennon’s sister, as this gave it a more personal feel.
After you have experienced The Beatles side of Liverpool’s history, there arestill other things to do in Liverpool with Viator. For example, it would be a real shame to miss out on a trip across the world-famous and iconic Mersey River. One of the best ways to experience this waterway is on the Mersey Rover Explorer Cruise.
While on the cruise you will have a unique view of the historical sights that Liverpool has to offer – from the water. You can even choose between having a standard cruise ticket or a combination ticket that includes entrance to many other Liverpool attractions in the price.
Hop aboard the world-famous Mersey River Explorer Cruise for a 50 minute journey along the river to see Liverpool’s history-rich sights by water! The audio commentary played for the duration of the cruise is very informative and allows you to keep your eyes open and looking across to the city while learning about the city’s past as a busy sea port.
You can choose from a standard hop-on and hop-off style ticket for the River Mersey cruise or a combination ticket that includes entrance to other Liverpool attractions. There are various interesting and fun attractions around the city such as the exciting and very interactive Spaceport attraction and the U-Boat Story, which features a real German submarine from World War 2. Although these attractions won’t be to everyone’s taste, if you love history or have some kids with you that need to be entertained, they will make it that extra bit special.
Although The Beatles and other bands from the Beat music scene may be the reason you decided to visit Liverpool, you will find that the non-music related aspects of the city are equally as interesting.
